Minister speech:
1. The extension of
free medical treatment to
EPF retirees
“Ladies and gentleman, as a
token of appreciation for
the civil servants for services rendered,
the government has
decided, with effect from
the current date, retirees under the Employees' Provident
Fund (EPF) who have mandatorily retired or those who have retired
under Section 6A (6) of Act 227/239 and their dependents are now
eligible for free treatment.
Implementation of
the extension of free
medical treatment to EPF retirees
is only applicable to
members of civil service who are
compulsorily retired by the
Federal Government or
State Government or the Statutory
and Local
Authorities.
However it does not cover those who resign or leave the service on
their own accord.”

2. The abolition of deferment of payment apart of the gratuity
“In
addition, thanks to
government efforts to
manage finances
wisely, we have begun leading to recovery from economic
problem, beginning from the current date, gratuity
is to be paid hundred percent for
the public sector personnel under the pension scheme who retire
optionally, with the abolition of deferment of payment apart of the
gratuity.”
