Procedure to apply for exemption from the requirement of "Resident in Malaysia"

(i)

For pensioner/pension recipient going overseas for period exceeding three months.

(ii)

Application submitted three months prior of departure overseas by completing the following forms:-

Application letter;

-

Questionnaire to determine Resident Status;

-

Declaration of Resident Status under Pension Adjustment Act 1980;

(iii)

Supporting documents:-

(a)

A copy of travel passport with all pages endorsed ;

(b)

Other documents:-

For Medical Treatment:-

Doctor's affirmation that  the disease suffered requires further treatment.


For Education:-

Confirmation letter from the institute of higher learning regarding the course and its duration.

For Employment:-

Employment offer letter from the employee of contract agreement the indicates the contract period.

(iv)

As a guide, approval may be awarded for the following periods:-

(a)

social purpose such as sigh-seeing, visit child or relatives - 6 months

(b)

employment - according to the contract term (on condition pensioner/pension recipient is not a Permanent Resident of the foreign country)

(c)

pensioner/pension recipient's education - one year ( extension would be based on the endorsement of the institution of higher learning) 

(d)

medical - 6 months
