GYNAECOLOGICAL PROBLEMS ?

  • Women who have reached menopause and can no longer give birth.  Biological changes and infertility starts from the ages of 45-55 years due to decreasing levels of estrogen and progesterone hormone. This decrease will cause changes in the body and with ageing process will in general affect general health and specifically the reproductive organs.

Distinct changes include:

  • Vasomotor symptom

  • Hot flushes and perspire

  • Emotional changes

    • Feel depressed

    • Uneasy and uncomfortable

    • loss of concentration 

  • Skin and hair

    • Wrinkling and shrinking of skin and breasts

    • Hair loss

  • Urogenital

    • Moisture loss in the vagina 

    • Weakening of vagina walls

    • Possible prolapsed urethra 

    • Weak urinary bladder and urethra will cause loss of control of urinating especially when coughing

  • Reduced estrogen (female hormone) for extended time will cause angina, heart attack and osteoporosis

  • Infection of the private organs

  • Retraction of the vagina due to loss of vagina acid and thinning of vagina walls.

  • Cancer of the sex organs and overlapping infection.

  • Unattended foreign body 'pesari' (object inserted to support the ovary).

  • Cancer of the female reproductive organs contribute to the large portion of cancer amongst females.

A woman must see a doctor when:

  • Bleed after menopause

  • Sticky substance from the vagina

  • Vulva itches (outside of vagina)

  • Stress incontinence

  • Hurt when having intercourse

  • Swelling at abdomen or private parts

  • Continuous or sudden stomach pains

Sensitive towards menopause symptoms

  • Go on hormone treatment especially:

  • After menopause

  • When ovaries are removed

  • At risk of having osteoporosis i.e. people who are thin, lanky and on steroid treatment

  • At risk of getting heart diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol or fat) 

  • Exercise is important for health and increasing the strength of the bones and reduce menopause symptoms.

  • Get regular examination like pap smear and breast examination.

  • Conduct exercises for the pelvic floor to reduce stress incontinence problems (when coughing, laughing or sneezing) 

  • A soft pesari (object inserted to support the ovary) may be used for stress incontinence if operation is not an option.
